Ollie is a 15 month old neutered male. He is 2'6" from his shoulders to the floor and weighs 52 pounds.
Ollie is goofy and cuddly and thinks he is lapdog. He will follow you absolutely everywhere and is all love. He has recently learned what treats are and started to learn some basic commands.
He is still learning but is doing well with his sit and down, crate, go over here, leave it, wait, and stay. Its still hit or miss when there are distractions, but he is on the right path. He settles nicely in the crate or next to you and is generally lower energy than many border collies.
He has recently discovered that fetch is a thing and loves it. Compared to his foster brother, a seasoned fetch master, he is still very clumsy about it but what he lacks in precision he makes up in speed and sheer force. He hasn’t quite learnt to retrieve the ball, but he figured out that if he drops the ball in front of the other dog, he will retrieve it for Ollie. Working smart, not hard.
Ollie would likely benefit from another dog friend as he plays so nicely with his current foster brother and to have an example to follow but I don’t think it’s a requirement.
Ollie does have some special needs as he is fear reactive towards outdoor stimuli. Having grown up in a backyard without being walked, he still sees the outside world as threatening. Anything new that moves scares him and that includes people, dogs, cars, and bikes. His reaction manifests in high pitch barking, lunging and agitation.
He will need a lot of training and an experienced hand to change his perspective of the world. Ollie likely would do best in a home where he is not constantly challenged with new experiences, like on a farm or large property.
Ollie is up to date on all vaccinations and on flea, tick, and heartworm medication.
Ollie is living in Crockett, CA (Contra Costa County)
