Skittles is a very sweet almost 3 year old black & white short coated female. She does have a docked tail.
Skittles is a gem of a dog! She has had a rough few months though. Skittles originally came into rescue because her owner's landlord decided he didn't want dogs on his property. Skittles had to go to a shelter but the shelter staff called our rescue and we took her to one of our foster homes. Rescue found a great new home for Skittles and she has been very happy for the past 8 months. Unfortunately, Skittles' new owner was diagnosed with cancer and she is unable to continue to care for Skittles. So now, Skittles is back in rescue. She is happy though as she remembers her foster mom's dogs and they all love to play in the yard.
Skittles is very friendly to everyone she meets, she loves every dog she has met so far and when she saw a cat, she just sniffed the cat, then walked right past her! Skittles is totally housebroken, crate trained and an all around good girl.
To find out more about this fantastic young female, you must have an approved application on file. To inquire about adopting Skittles, please email bcfosterdog@gmail.com.

Meet Rees! Rees is the dog people think of when they think of Border Collies as a pet. He is intelligent loving and beautiful. Rees was turned into the shelter as a stray. He was unneutered and had freshly broken teeth. The vet said he either was eating rocks or chewed out of a cage. His mouth has healed and the chipped teeth can sometimes give him an adorable smile. They may need to be checked again by a vet with his forever family but they do not seem to bother him. He is a happy boy and very loving. Even though he has that famous Border Collie energy he is well behaved inside the home. Rees loves to hug and snuggle. When his foster mom comes home from work, he greets her with a warm loving hug. He also loves to make himself as small as possible and curl himself into you. If you have a home office, he will lay happily by your feet worshiping you. Rees loves to play ball. He is an excellent passenger in the car and enjoys hiking and the dog park. He does get along with other dogs but should not go to a home with smaller dogs or cats; he does not see them as equals and is aggressive with cats. Rees can jump high! When he is chasing the squirrels in his yard, he can almost clear a 6-foot fence to get them. Rees is popular at the dog park. He will play with the other dogs and chase balls but he is mostly well known for greeting and snuggling up to the people. If you are looking for a loyal, loving companion, Rees is for you!

Sally is a wonderfully sweet 10 month old spayed female, black and white with a rough coat. Sally is friendly to everyone and loves other dogs. She is crate trained and housebroken and walks nicely on leash. Sally is very agile and would probably love to do agility or another doggy sport. She came from a ranch where she was already doing well herding cattle. Her one problem was she barked too much while herding so her owner surrendered her to rescue. In our home situation Sally is not a barker, she plays and comes when called and is an all around great dog. When Sally first met one of our cats in her photo session, she was afraid of the cat and ran the other way. Lately, she has decided cats are fun creatures to chase. We're not sure if she would hurt a cat if she caught it but she may be best in a home without cats. We call her "long tall Sally" which describes her perfectly. She is thin right now at 36 pounds and could put on some weight. We figure she will mature at around 40 - 43 pounds. Sally will be a wonderful Valentine for some lucky family. If you are interested in Sally, you must have an approved application on file. To inquire about adopting her, please email bcfosterdog@gmail.com. Sally is being fostered in Morgan Hill. |

Deiridh (also known as Dee Dee) is a one year old spayed black & white rough coated Border Collie. She is a great size weighing only 33 pounds. Dee Dee is such a happy girl. She loves all people and has learned to love other dogs in her foster home. When she first came to us, she was afraid of other dogs and would squeal if they got close to her! After a total submersion into our group of family dogs and foster dogs, Dee Dee found that dogs are fun to play with. Now she plays all day long and is a great friend to all the dogs. Dee Dee has a lot of herding instincts, and she uses them quite often by rounding up all the other dogs. She is fast and agile and would probably love to try agility or some formal herding classes. She does well in the house and has never had an accident inside. She is crate trained too. Dee Dee would like to chase cats so it might be best for her to go to a home without kitties. Dee Dee is up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped and ready for her new home. If you are interested in Dee Dee, you must have an approved application on file. Meet Sabot!! (Pronounced Say-Bow) He's an 9 month old rough coated tri-color Border Collie about 44 pounds. He's a very sweet and energetic guy. He likes other dogs, likes cats, and is good with small children. He loves chasing a ball and plays well with other dogs. He likes to bark and jump around when he's excited but is able to calm down and relax when necessary. He'd do best in an active home with ample room to run and play with another dog (or dogs). He knows basic commands but still tends to pull when he's on a leash. He is a little shy at firsts but warms up very quickly. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. If you are interested in Sabot, you must have an approved application on file. To inquire about adopting him, please email bcfosterdog@gmail.com. Sabot is being fostered in Salinas. |

This 1 year old black & white female only weighs 33 pounds! Melie will charm you with her sweetness. She loves other dogs and is friendly to people once she knows you. She is housebroken, crate trained and just a wonderful little girl. Check out her beautiful eye color!!! She met one of the resident cats and kissed him on the nose.
Melie didn't have much leash training when she came into rescue. She does walk on leash now but she likes to circle her person while out for a stroll. Just a little more practice or a basic obedience class should have her walking nicely in no time. New situations make Melie very wary. When they wanted to move her from one place to another in the shelter, they would pick her up and carry her. She doesn't mind this and expected us to do the same when she first came to our home. We insist the dogs walk on their own though so with a lot of encouragement, she is learning to be more adventurous. She has gotten a lot braver in the few weeks she has been in rescue. Melie is named after Melanie in Gone With The Wind.
Melanie is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready for her new home.

Meet Marco and Polo, sweet young boys who have been through a lot the past few weeks. They were purchased by a family when they were 2 months old, but then they came down with the Parvo virus. This is a deadly virus if not treated and the treatments are very expensive. The family couldn't afford to treat them so the animal hospital called our rescue. We took the boys the next day and now they are doing great. They are healthy and happy and they love to give kisses!!! Once a dog has Parvo, they won't get it again, so this is at least one benefit for everything these boys have gone through! Marco is a tri-color and Polo is black & white. They are using a doggy door to go outside to potty and have not had an accident in the house. They sleep in a crate at night and are walking pretty well on leash. These sweet boys will be ready for adoption after the 24th of October. We are now taking applications to find the perfect home for each boy. Even though their names go together and they play very well with each other, they will not be adopted to the same household. To find out more about these boys you must first have an approved application on file. To inquire about adopting them, please email bcfosterdog@gmail.com and let us know which male is your favorite. This is Cowboy Red - a 2 year old purebred red & white male - born 9/12/12. Cowboy is a very sweet and friendly boy. He is also good with other dogs. Cowboy is a big boy, weighing in at about 55 pounds.
Cowboy has lived his whole life on a ranch and he is a good herding dog. He had some issues with goats who didn't want to pay attention to him. For this reason, his owners felt he would be better out of a ranch environment. Cowboy was mainly an outside dog at the ranch so he is learning about being in the house at his foster home. He does sleep at night in a crate and has been very good.

Meet Dusty Girl, a 2 year old red & white spayed female. She is just the right size, weighing in at about 35 pounds. She is very sweet and loves people. I don't think she has been around many dogs in her life. She seems to worry when they are around her but we're working on getting her used to all types of dogs and she seems to be getting much more relaxed in their company. Dusty was exposed to chickens and cats. She was interested in looking at the chickens but made no move to go after them. She was actually afraid of the cats, so I don't think she will have an issue with either one. Dusty is very eager to please and will try her best to do whatever you ask her to do. She is crate trained and housebroken and walks pretty well on leash. This gorgeous girl is microchipped and fully vaccinated and ready for adoption. ADOPTION PENDING!!! Mona is a sweet, very easy going 8 month old Border Collie mix. She probably has some Labrador in her as she is pretty good size right now, weighing 44 pounds. Mona is super friendly to people and loves other dogs. She loves water and loves to play. Mona does have a very sad tale/tail. We mean that literally!!! When Mona was in an animal shelter waiting to be rescued, her tail was accidentally caught in the kennel door. Mona didn't make a sound when it happened so no one noticed. The next morning when they came into the shelter, there was blood everywhere and part of Mona's tail was still in the door. The shelter staff immediately took her to the vet and they stitched up her remaining tail. The best part is Mona had a very long tail before her accident, so after losing a couple of inches, she is still left with a nice tail. Looking at her shelter photos before the accident, Mona had a lot of hair on her tail so when that grows back, you won't be able to tell she had an accident at all. Mona is going to have a medium length coat. She is white with a lot of black ticking and she has a couple of black body spots, one like a saddle on her back and the other on her rump and down half of her tail. Her head is classically black and white marked. Mona will be available for adoption the weekend of September 13. For more information about sweet Mona, you must have an approved application on file. Coco is a 1 1/2 year old medium coat black & white spayed female with the most beautiful colored eyes. Coco is housebroken and as far as other dogs go, she adores them! She will play forever, chasing and being chased, she is so good-natured. Then there is ball playing. This girl does it all, she retrieves, brings back the ball and either drops it at your feet or she rolls onto her back and lets you take the ball from her mouth. If she is playing with other dogs, there is no argument from her if someone gets to the ball first, she happily runs back as though she caught the ball and waits for the next toss. She will push a soccer ball around the yard with her nose and feet to entertain herself. The only think Coco does not like is being in a crate. Since all the dogs here learn to go into a crate for sleeping at night, she is learning to tolerate this, but she can't figure out why she has to stop playing!!!! Coco is up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped and ready for her new home. Coco weighs 43 lbs. To learn more about COCO you must have an approved application on file. If you're wondering why there is a baby picture in the collage, Daisy was in rescue when she was just 8 weeks old. She came into rescue with 5 littermates. Some looked like Border Collies, some like Australian Cattle Dogs. Daisy was adopted at 9 weeks of age and did very well in her new home. Unfortunately, her owner had a stroke and is not able to take care of Daisy now. Daisy is extremely sweet, gets along well with other dogs and is great in the house. She is crate trained but she will also sleep through the night on her doggy bed, without leaving her spot. Daisy likes to go for rides in the car. She saw a cat at her foster home and didn't know what to think of him. She didn't want to chase the cat, and she really tried hard to avoid him! Daisy went to a few obedience classes before her mom fell ill, but she would certainly benefit from additional obedience training. Daisy pulls a bit on leash but she does know sit and stay. Daisy is a tall girl and weighs about 45 pounds. For more information about this happy girl, you must have an approved application on file. Oreo is a sweet, well behaved, 2 y/o spayed female. Her family surrendered her to rescue because they were moving. She is housebroken, very playful, crate trained and excellent around the house. She loves to be around people and has a pretty mellow temperament for a BC. She is smart and already knows a few commands but will need continuing reinforcement on her training. She loves to play with squeaky toys and fetch a ball. Oreo gets along with other dogs and has not shown any destructive behavior such as digging or chewing. An ideal situation for her would be an active family with school aged children who would regularly involve her in their activities. She is current on all of her vaccinations and weighs 45 lbs. Gus is a wonderful 5 year old rough coated neutered male. Gus is a small boy. He weighs 40 pounds but he is overweight. He should weigh about 35 pounds. He is a sensitive, happy boy who just wants to please his owners. His world was turned upside down when his family turned him into their local animal shelter because they didn't have time for him. Gus has gotten over that now and is once again a happy dog. Gus loves other dogs, likes to play with his toys, especially his Kong. He walks nicely on leash, knows a few basic commands, is totally housebroken and crate trained. Gus would make a great addition to just about any household. He does like to be with his people so if everyone in your family works long hours, this wouldn't be the best situation for him. Gus would definitely like a home with another dog or two. He gets along well with male and female dogs. Gus will try to chase cats so a home without cats is best.

Rue is a friendly, sweet and gorgeous, one year old rough coat Border Collie female. She walks nicely on leash, is crate trained and is doing well with her housebreaking. She loves to play in the water and she is a real talker! Rue didn't seem to have much experience with other dogs when she came into rescue. Although she has made friends with a couple of the younger dogs in her foster home, she would really prefer all of the attention herself, so we are looking for a home without other dogs for Rue. When she first saw a cat in her foster home, she wanted to chase him. She has gotten much better and will walk right past cats now without even looking at them. This is Maddie!!! Such a great little girl. Maddie's previous owner passed away and no one in the family could take her. She ended up in a shelter but luckily, she was only in the shelter for 1 day. It was just Maddie's luck that the shelter director contacted Border Collie Rescue to help get her into a foster home as soon as possible.
Maddie is a joy to be around. She has wonderful house manners, is totally housebroken, crate trained and very obedient. She is super friendly to people, loves other dogs and even likes cats! She doesn't chase birds (we have a Peacock on our property) and she is trustworthy off leash.

Penny is a very sweet red & white female who was most likely an outside dog all her life. She is a purebred with a rough coat but her coat is very thin now as she recently had a litter of pups. Her coat is also bleached out from being in the sun so much. When her coat grows back fully, it will be a gorgeous red color. Penny is crate trained and we're working on her housebreaking. She gets along well with other dogs and is friendly with people, especially once she gets to know them. Penny is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped and ready for adoption. Penny weighs 37 pounds. For more information about Penny, you must have an approved application on file. To inquire about adopting her, please email bcfosterdog@gmail.com. ![]() (Click on her photo for additional photos) This is Pepper, an adorable rough coated black & white female, 3 1/2 months of age. She came to us with her mother and brother. They were on a ranch where there were too many dogs. The owner didn't have time to work with or train the dogs so they came into rescue. Pepper is sweet and gets along great with other dogs. She hasn't been socialized much with people but she loves her foster mom and it just takes her a little time to make friends when she meets new people. She would do well going to a puppy class where she can interact with other pups as well as their owners. This cute little girl will be ready to be adopted anytime after 5/1/14. For more information about Pepper, you must have an approved application on file. To inquire about adopting her, please email bcfosterdog@gmail.com. Pepper is being fostered in Morgan Hill. |

Copper is a handsome rough coated red & white male, 3 1/2 months of age. Copper came into rescue with his mom and his sister Pepper. His previous owner didn't have time to work with the dogs so although they are great with other dogs, they haven't been around many people. Copper is doing very well with his foster family and he is learning that people are fun to play with! We always suggest taking the pups to puppy classes where they can get some socialization and learn things too! Copper will be available for adoption anytime after 5/1/14. Introducing MacBeth, a 10 year old black & white spayed female. Beth ended up going to a shelter when her owner passed away. No one in the family could take her in so they took her to the shelter. Right away, the shelter called Border Collie Rescue as they know how hard it is on the older dogs to be in that situation. We took Beth out of the shelter and she has been such a wonderful house guest in return.
Beth is fine with other dogs, is totally housebroken, and she is also crate trained. The only thing she probably shouldn't have in her new home is a cat. Beth is very focused on cats when she sees them, we're guessing she would like to give chase if given the chance.
Beth is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and very healthy. She has had a complete blood panel and check up and has a clean bill of health. Beth is a little overweight (she weighs 60 lbs and should probably lose 10 pounds.
We hope someone will open their hearts and home to MacBeth. She has been through so much this past month, and she really deserves her own home and family.

learned the command "off, (for not jumping up on me, but still needs reminding when I first come home from work.) And when I don't want him on the bed, I tell him "off" and he gets down. There are 3 cats here and he doesn't bother them.
Zeek has an easy care short coat and he weighs around 36 pounds. Zeek is very sweet, playful and he does want to please. Zeek is very good natured and likes other people, a lot!
When feeding time comes, he waits his turn for his bowl to be put down, and when treat time comes he will sit and wait with the other dogs and wait his turn and takes the treat gently. He is not pushy nor does he try to take another dog's treat. He will be a great dog when he's trained and more mature.
Zeek is up to date on his vaccinations and is on heartworm preventatives.

Cody is an extremely sweet, very mellow, 7 to 8 year old neutered male. Cody's family moved and couldn't take him with them. Poor Cody has been in a shelter for several weeks now. All of the shelter staff loved this easy going boy and he loved them as well.
Cody has lived with other dogs, cats and children from 0-16! He love everyone! Cody is very quiet and obedient.
Cody is a big boy, tall and very overweight. He needs to have some fun exercise to help take off those extra pounds. He isn't really a ball fetcher but he does walk nicely on leash, so he would be a great walking partner.
We hope someone will give this gentle boy a loving home where he doesn't have to worry about being abandoned again. His energy level is very low right now but should pick up a little more when he trims down a bit. Cody has great eyes, that rich brown color that just melts your heart!
Cody is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and ready for his new home.

Wyatt is a purebred 9 month old male. He was loved so much by his first owner and she did a wonderful job of training him to be a great companion. His only issue was obsessing over the horses on the property, wanting to constantly herd them. Knowing this wasn't the best situation for Wyatt, his owner released him to rescue so we could find him a new home.
Wyatt is completely housebroken, crate trained, great with other dogs and he even likes cats. Wyatt loves people and loves to ride in the car. He will try to herd horses and chickens.
With Wyatt's strong focus, he would be great in agility or flyball. He loves to fetch and play with his toys. Wyatt now weighs 32 pounds.
Wyatt is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped and ready for his new home.

Bella is the sweetest dog and she will give you tons of kisses! Bella is a 3 year old spayed female who was turned into a shelter because her family was moving. Poor thing was terrified in the shelter but once she got out of the front door of the shelter, she was a very happy camper. The whole car ride coming home to Border Collie Rescue, Bella sat next to her transporter and showered her with kisses in gratitude for taking her out of the shelter. Since being in rescue, Bella has been the perfect house guest! She is quiet, loves all of the other dogs, doesn't bother the cats and is excellent with her house manners. She loves all of the people she has met and has been a real joy to have around. As you can see by her photos, she is a happy girl and loves to smile! She is basically white with a couple large black spots and then a bunch of red and black freckles all through her body. And for those of you who are looking for a smaller Border Collie, Bella weighs just a little over 20 pounds!!
