Name: Bobo (he loves his name)
Nickname: Bobo Bear
Age: 4 yo
Breed: Border Collie (mix?)
Weight: 44 lbs
Neutered: Yes, was just neutered on 11/3
Shots UTD: Yes
Health issues: Tapeworm which the vet already gave us his med for it.
Housebroken: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Personality:
✅Gets along with women/calm men/cats and strangers. We have 3 cats and he is very nonchalant about them.
✅Great off and on switch, if you're busy he will sleep or play by himself and will not get destructive.
✅Great at expressing when he needs to go to the bathroom, wants to play, and is hungry. He'll either whine or nudge your hand.
✅Loves stuffed animals and chasing bouncing balls.
✅Very cuddly, if you are looking for a lapdog + energetic dog, Bobo is the one.
✅He gets alert when he sees birds and cats outside and he'll either sit and watch them or you can tell him to "leave it" and have him come with you.
✅Knows sit, no, come, leave it
✅Great with grooming, bathing, nail clipping, ear cleaning.
✅Loves car rides.
✅Little separation anxiety, can be left at home alone he whines a bit but does not destroy the house.
✅Does great on runs. Would be ideal for a runner or hiker.
🟡Had slight food aggression when we first got him. Now he's calm when the cats are around his food or water.
🟡Gets scared around loud noises or sudden/sharp movements
🟡 Aware of bikes, jogger, stray cats or birds. Loves to chase and watch squirrels.
❌ Does not get along with every dog, definitely NOT OKAY with dominant or forward dogs that are his size or larger. He's been introduced to some smaller dogs and was good as long as it was not on a sidewalk.
❌Leash reactivity and pulls hard when on the leash.
❌He was initially okay with our 2 year old but since nipped at him. So no small children.
We adopted Bobo on 10/3 from Apple Valley Animal Shelter. He was due to be euthanized that day. We assumed he was fine with other dogs as he was surrendered with his sister and got along with other dogs at the park. But within that first week he attacked a dog that was being walked by its owner. He will definitely need training and ideally a space to be outside. I would love to see him have the opportunity and access to agility training and obstacle courses. He'd thrive in that environment or on a farm.
He is his happiest off leash running around. Loves peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Needs a home that is safe, loving and calm.
Bobo is super sweet. Loves to cuddle and loves to play. When he's excited he'll bounce around. He rarely barks. Only when there is an obscure sound. We love him and want to find the best fit so he's loved and in his forever home.
Bobo is living in Redding.
