ASTRA IS A 9 MONTH OLD SPAYED FEMALE. She is 17" from her shoulders to the ground and weighs 30 pounds.
Astra is sweet, playful, athletic, and highly intelligent. She learns quickly and is eager to please. Being a border collie mix, she loves to work and run long distances, but she’s small in stature – the perfect size for cuddling. She is highly people-oriented and enjoys training sessions, playing fetch, going for nature hikes, and being petted.
Astra was abandoned on the street by her first owners, who had almost certainly neglected her. Before coming into foster care, she was never properly trained or socialized with other dogs. This manifests in reactivity toward other dogs, particularly on-leash. She’s anxious around cats and may do better, at least initially, in a home without other pets. She has demonstrated promising progress - in the few weeks she’s been in foster care, she has blossomed. In addition to learning basic commands at record pace, her leash reactivity has gradually improved. She craves the security of a loving, safe home, and she wants a forever family to bond with. Because of her intelligence, loyalty, and fitness, she has the potential to make an excellent farm hand, running companion, or competitive canine athlete.
Astra is a young dog who needs someone to give her a proper chance in life – the chance to shine for you!
