Permanent Foster Dogs
Sometimes a dog comes through rescue and they just don't find the right family to adopt them. They are usually fine in their foster home because the foster family has several dogs and the resident dogs help the new dog with the rules of the house. Even dogs with behavior problems usually do well in a foster situation. When we can't find the perfect home for our rescue dogs they continue to stay in their foster homes. While in foster care, these dogs still require food and supplies, including flea control, heartworm preventatives, basic medical care and toys!! If you are interested in sponsoring one of the permanent foster dogs, they would really appreciate it.
ACE is better with women than men but he takes quite a while to warm up to everyone. He is fearful of new situations but does well in a household once he learns the routine and the people in the home. He would not do well with a family who has lots of people coming and going during the day. He is not suited for going out to dog parks or other public places because of his fear of men. Ace is also an escape artist. Luckily, he does come when called and the situation where he is being fostered, is very unique. He has an exercise yard right next to the house. If he escapes from that yard, the whole perimeter of the property has a very secure fence, so he has never found a way off of the property. We call Ace the ambassador for the new foster dogs. He will great each new dog and bug them until they play with him. Even foster dogs who are shy or unsure of other dogs, will generally start playing with Ace in the first hour of their arrival. RAIDER, believe it or not, is smiling in his photo. Raider was first in our rescue when he was 8 months old. A fanatic ball player, Raider always had a great time. He was adopted to an older man and was a faithful companion to him, going in the car, walking and just hanging around the house. The owner was unable to take care of himself as he got older and had someone come in to help him. We think she must have been sweeping with a broom (something Raider likes to attack!), and Raider bit the woman's leg instead of the broom. Raider had to come back into rescue! With a bite record, it's always difficult for a dog to find a new home so Raider became a permanent foster. He has some health issues now so he is definitely staying where he is. At 13 years old, he still loves to push a soccer ball all around the yard to entertain himself. He still likes to go for rides in a car and is a very happy boy.
