Mumford is a 4 year old neutered male. He is 25" from his shoulders to the ground and weighs 3 pounds.
Mumford is a 4-year-old Border Collie/ McNab . He’s an incredibly sweet and extremely fun dog that wants to be apart of your life! If you’re into walking, hiking, fishing, running, throwing a frisbee, working outdoors, or riding quads—Mumford doesn’t care what the task is, he just wants to be there doing it with you. He travels wonderfully in the car and LOVES having a job so if you do outdoor work and just need a buddy throughout your day, Mumfords your dog.
Because he’s a working breed he also loves to learn, therefore he’s an extremely well trained dog. For example Mumford has been off-leash heeling since he was 10 weeks old and can be called off mid-ball chase without hesitation.
Mumford is best suited to a home that understands the nature of a true working dog. He (like many collie breeds) communicates through nipping, therefore he’s not a typical “family pet” in the cuddle-on-the-couch sense. He prefers purposeful connection over affection—think pats over belly rubs. He’s a “dog’s dog”— intuitive, and communicative in the way working dogs often are. He doesn’t enjoy being pet aggressively or handled on his ears, nose, or paws. If he’s laying down or eating, he appreciates being left alone. He’s not being rude—he’s just being a dog with clear boundaries.
Because of this, Mumford would thrive in a home with adults or older, respectful children who understand dog body language. He could adapt to living with another dog or a cat with proper introduction and time. He tends to do best with another dog that has a calmer temperament.
Unfortunately, life has shifted for us—we’ve moved into the city and are expecting a baby. The lifestyle that Mumford needs and deserves—open space, low chaos,—is no longer something we can offer.
