Frankie is a Labrador/border collie mix, approximately 2½ years old and about 60 lbs.
I adopted Frankie the end of May 2023 when she was a year old - she was so calm! She is unfazed by fireworks, sudden noises, or garbage trucks driving by. At the dog park, she loves to run and play, but, if other dogs start playing too rough, she walks away! She is great with other dogs, my grand kids and strangers, men and women. She loves going to the dog park, is great walking on leash around the neighborhood, and riding in the car. She is a very social dog but I have left her home alone for up to six hours with no problems. She is very smart, energetic, independent and sometimes stubborn. She loves to race a dog running after a ball but Frankie could care less about the ball; you cannot hope to give her exercise by throwing a ball in the backyard.
Frankie loves to play with other dogs and if she sees another dog on leash when she is also on leash, she wants to run over to play, which can result in pulling and barking on leash. On the recommendation of a trainer, I switched to a Halti head collar which works wonders by pulling her head down if she lunges. That combined with words can calm the situation. If there are no dogs around, she walks on leash without any pulling or difficulty and is great company.
Frankie is very active and athletic and needs more exercise than walks around the block and occasional visits to the dog park can offer. Frankie would love a household that included two adults, teenagers and most of all, another dog!
Frankie is living in Oakland.
