Age: 3 Years old.
Size: Medium

BAILEY
is a three-year old, black and white, smooth coat, neutered
male. As is the case with many dogs coming from ranch
areas, his tail is docked, though it has not diminished his
tail wagging one bit. In fact his whole body wiggles when
he anticipates a fun outing – even just going outside.
BAILEY
has been a very well-behaved guest at his foster home. He
is housebroken and crates extremely well at night and for
feeding. BAILEY appears to have had some training as he
knows his name, sit and down. He is extremely affectionate
and loves
to be petted! He is highly trainable.
As you
can see from some of the photos, BAILEY can get along well
with the other dogs. He loves to play tussle with toys and
with any willing pack mate. That said, BAILEY can be
reactive to others dogs when the play gets excited &/or
rowdy. He would do best in a single dog home, or if there's
another dog, he would need a human to teach him what is
appropriate & expect that of him at all times. Homes with
cats appear to be no problem! He has encountered the cat is
his foster home a number of times and shown no interest in
her whatsoever.
BAILEY
is a typical young BC with a need for daily activity and
human interaction. Outside he’s very curious, exploring all
areas he can access. He loves to go for rides so someone
wanting a traveling (and/or running) companion would be a
good match. He’s always eager to play, but at night he also
has nice way of settling down. He would do best in a home
that knows BCs & know how to offer him leadership & good BC
outlets. He also will need someone with training experience
to help him work through his reactivity (fear) when visiting
the vet's office.
So,
the ideal home for BAILEY would be with adult humans,
preferably as a single dog (or with one other dog & a good
human pack leader), an active lifestyle, & a human with BC &
training experience. He is a wonderful, wonderful dog! We
all love him to bits, & we know he needs the right home.
BAILEY
is current on his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on
preventative.

Male
Black
& White
Age: 10 months old.
Size: Medium
|
LITTLE JOE is a 10-month-old little man, weighing only 29 pounds of
adorable. He is a sweet, soft boy, quiet & sensitive. He loves
people & sticks close, leaning in to whoever he's with. He stays close indoors and out, off leash or on it. He
is not overly exuberant either, quite calm and even-tempered
especially for a Border Collie. And he is not excessively intense with
the horses in his foster home. He is learning to play with toys. He
is keen & learns quickly, picking up the "sit" & "down" commands
within minutes. And he's very treat-motivated. Little Joe is
sleeping in his crate at night, & hasn't had accidents in his foster
home. He does sometimes "piddle" a little with excitement when he
first greets someone. Little Joe gets
along well with other dogs & has been a good boy with the cat who
lives in his foster home. He has been appropriately submissive with
the other dogs in his foster home. Joe is a wonderful size; he's
even-tempered & agile, so he will be fun to train.

Female
Red Tri-Color
Age: 1 year old.
Size: Medium
|
RAIN is a 1-year-old tri-colored girl with a gorgeous coat & wonderful
build. She is smaller than she looks in her photos, weighing about 35
pounds. Rain lives to run & play & jump & stay busy! She loves toys,
especially balls, & is very treat-motivated. She learns quickly, but
sometimes she decides whether she's going to do what you've asked her.
That's getting lots better since she's been in rescue & had lots of
positive reward for doing the right thing. Before she came to us,
she'd clearly never had a leash on, but now she's learning to move
nicely with her leash. She has lots of energy & she's going to need
things to do. She will entertain herself, but if she doesn't have
outlet for her Border Collie energy, you might not like the ways she
finds to stay busy! Rain is crate-trained & hasn't had an accident in
her foster home. She's been good with the male dogs in her foster
home & hasn't been loose with the bossy female. She is a wonderfully
trainable, athletic, happy girl, who will be a great companion & might
even enjoy learning dog sports. Although it looks like Rain has a
short tail in the photos, she does indeed have a full tail!!!

Male

Age: 3-4 years old.
Size: Medium
|
TEDDY is a 3-to-4-year-old Border Collie mix. He is a silly, playful,
affectionate dog, who is active but not obsessed like many BCs. He
loves to run & play. Teddy loves everyone he meets. He is
crate-trained & is very good with his house manners.
Teddy knows "sit" & is working on "down," & he comes when he's
called. He is good with all the dogs in his foster home. He wants to be where his people
are, but he's not clingy. He is not a barker, unless there is
something for him to bark about like when he needs to go outside or
someone comes to the house; he stops when he's told to. Teddy learns
quickly & is treat-motivated, but he's also a little bit ornery. In
other words, he needs to know that you mean what you say; he responds
very well to calm, consistent, positive direction. He has a nice
level of confidence. Teddy lives with a cat in his foster home, but
she knows how to handle BCs.

MARBLE is a 3-year-old boy who came into rescue with a
seriously damaged foot. The injury happened a long time ago, &
the foot healed badly. His right front leg shortened, which made
movement painful for him. He's recently had his front leg
amputated, & he's getting around beautifully. He runs & plays, &
is a typical rambunctious Border Collie. Marble is a wonderful
companion dog. He loves people, & is good with other dogs.
Marble is not good with cats or chickens. Marble is housebroken
& crate-trained. He is neutered, heartworm negative (& on

Name: BRYTE

"Bryte is being sponsored in honor of
the devoted volunteers at BC Rescue."
|
|
Female
Black & White
Age: 2 years old
Size: Medium
|
BRYTE is a small, 2-year-old softie. She was dumped at the shelter.
She was terrified and we're delighted at the progress she has made.
She is still somewhat shy, but is getting happier by the day. She is
learning to love to be inside with the family and is learning that
petting feels really good, especially back scratches! Bryte loves
playing with (and shredding) toys and running around the yard. But
she is most thrilled at dinner time; she does her happy dance and
smiles. She's learned to sit for her meal and treats and is just
starting to learn down. Bryte can still be very fearful if she thinks
you're trying to catch her or trap her; she is not "biting" or
"nipping" fearful at all, but she cannot be off leash in un-fenced
areas. Bryte is good with other dogs. She loves to play once she has
time to get comfortable with a new dog, and she is good with giving
appropriate corrections to pushy puppies. She was curious but
respectful of the cat she met; we don't know what she would do if a
cat would run. Bryte loves her crate--it's her safe place, and she
does not potty in the house. She is doing better at going for walks
in quiet areas. Loud noises can
quickly overwhelm her. She's slowly getting more comfortable walking by
parked cars. All is all, Bryte needs a very gentle, patient person
who can help continue to build her trust of people, preferably someone
with Border Collie and training experience. If she's naughty, she
just needs a gentle interruption by voice.
To be considered for Bryte,
you must
have an

application

Tarzan is now being
sponsored as
a
tribute to "Scout", from Jody and Kent Morales
|
|
Male
Black & White
Age: 8 months old
Size: Medium
|
|
TARZAN is still just a big puppy!! He loves to play with
other dogs and with his toys. He is housebroken, uses a doggy
door, and sleeps in
a crate at night. He knows sit and is learning not to pull on the
leash. He was previously in a home with small children and
although he liked them, he was too rambunctious (and big) for the tiny ones.
He would be best in a home with teenagers and adults. TARZ
is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. TARZ is going to
be a big boy, at 8 months he weighs 58 pounds although he's a little on
the heavy side right now. With exercise to get him at a good
weight, when he fully matures, he should weigh around 60 pounds. TARZ loves water, especially when it comes out of a hose! A very
fun dog! He does have a keen interest in cats and chickens so it
would be best to have him go to a home without them!
To be considered for TARZ,
you must
have an
approved
application
on
file.
